Elm Hill Pike crash knocks out power to residents

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

Several south Nashville residents had a dark start to the morning after a driver reportedly fell asleep and crashed into an electrical pole.

The accident happened around 3 a.m. Friday on Elm Hill Pike near McGavock Pike.

Authorities said the driver struck a guy wire connected to the pole.

The driver was not injured and his car wasn't badly damaged.

The impact did knock power out to a four-block radius near the scene, including several hotels.

The power has since been restored.
