NASHVILLE, Tenn. -
The chairwoman of the Tennessee State University Faculty Senate has kept her job through another meeting.
In August, Jane Davis was taken from a meeting in handcuffs after a shouting match with interim president Portia Shields.
Ray Richardson, a TSU faculty member told Nashville's News 2 that at Thursday's meeting, several members of the faculty senate called for the chairwoman's removal.
"There's some anger and there are some people who want their pound of flesh," said Professor Ray Richardson. "It was on the agenda to discipline the faculty senate chair."
Richardson told Nashville's News 2 that it was quickly noted that the faculty senate could not discipline the chairwoman and that there are measures in place to do that when necessary.
"There are people who want to remove the faculty senate chair, they didn't get the votes," said Richardson. "Some people at that same meeting said, ‘Let's re-vote.'"
Davis was at Thursday's meeting but told Nashville's News 2 her attorney advised her not to speak to the media.
Interim President Shields did not attend the meeting.
