PLEASANT VIEW, Tenn. -

A Pleasant View man has been charged with the recent death of his ex-wife.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation arrested David Monk on Wednesday for the beating death of 55-year-old Donna Bandy.

Bandy was found deceased in a bathroom closet at her home located in the 2600 block of Goodsprings Road Friday morning during a welfare check.

At the time of her death, Bandy lived with her elderly mother who had recently been hospitalized and was not home when the murder took place.

Police said Monk also stole a vehicle from the scene that belonged to his former mother-in-law. The car was later recovered in Springfield.

Monk, 42, is charged with first degree murder and theft of property.

The Pleasant View Police Department assisted in the TBI investigation.

The homicide case is the first Pleasant View police have worked in more than a decade.

Monk is being held in the Cheatham County jail in lieu of a $1 million bond. He is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday.
