NASHVILLE, Tenn. -
An eight-year-old was struck by a bullet after shots were fired into his home in north Nashville late Tuesday night.
Police said there was a fight outside the home in the 100 block of Tiger Circle off Hawkwood Lane, not far from Briley Parkway, around 10 p.m.
A 22-year-old man in the home told police someone threw something, believed to be a rock, at his house and as he and his mother went outside to see what happened, multiple shots were fired.
Police said an eight-year-old boy sleeping inside the home was hit by a bullet that entered the residence.
Officials said the bullet entered the child's lower back and exited through his abdomen.
The child was taken to a nearby hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries. He was last listed in stable condition.
The investigation is ongoing.
