Clarksville police are working to identify the man who robbed a busy bank Tuesday afternoon. The incident occurred just after 2:30 p.m. at the Bank of America in the 1800 block of Madison Street. According to police the man gave a teller a note advising that he had a handgun and made a gesture as if he had one concealed before he demanded money. The bank employee gave the man an undisclosed amount of cash before he fled the scene on foot. At the time of the incident, police said there were several bank employees and a few customers inside the bank at the time of the robbery. The suspect is described as a light-skinned black male who is just over six feet tall. He weighs around 200 to 250 pounds. He also had a small amount of facial hair which appeared to be graying. The man was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black stocking cap, sunglasses and white tennis shoes. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Clarksville Tipsline at 931-645-8477.
