3 felons arrested while police search for suspect in unrelated case

Metro police arrested three felons on drug and gun charges on Monday night while searching for a suspect in an unrelated case.
The incident involving the trio occurred in the 600 block of Lewis Street when the driver of a Chevrolet Malibu attempted to leave the area.
Police said as officers converged on the car to see if the wanted person was inside the vehicle, driver Jovonte Fitzgerald put the car in reverse and accelerated forward before hitting several curbs, blowing out the vehicle's tires and narrowly missing three officers before striking a patrol car.
Fitzgerald, 19, and his front seat passenger identified as 22-year-old Raymond Wilson III fled the scene on foot. The pair was taken into police custody a short time later.
A third passenger, William Oden, exited the vehicle and surrendered to police.
Police recovered two handguns, 60 grams of crack cocaine, 25 grams of marijuana and more than $2,600 in cash.
Fitzgerald faces four counts of aggravated assault against a police officer, cocaine and marijuana possession in a drug-free school zone, felon in possession of a handgun and evading arrest among other charges.
Police said he has two previous felony drug possession convictions and is being held in lieu of $213,000.
Wilson is charged with a crooks with guns law violation, marijuana and cocaine possession in a drug free zone, as well as evading and resisting arrest. He is being held in lieu of a $97,000 bond.
Oden is charged with marijuana and cocaine possession in a drug-free school zone and felon in possession of a handgun.
Police said he had previous convictions for cocaine possession and evading arrest.
