CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. -

A Clarksville man was taken into police custody after he reportedly fired shots at car traveling on Madison Street on Saturday afternoon.

The victim reported to police he knew the suspect, who was identified as Joseph Coker.

According to police, Coker, 23, had been pulled over on the side of the road waiting for the suspect to pass by before shots were fired at the passenger side of the vehicle.

The 29-year-old victim suffered cuts to his arm. His vehicle's window was also shot out.

Police located Coker a short time later at his home located on Wilson Road.

During an interview with officers, Coker admitted to shooting at the victim and said he did so because he thought the victim also had a gun.

Police seized a handgun, shotgun, a felony amount of marijuana, drug paraphernalia and more than $2,900 in cash from inside the home.

Coker is charged with aggravated assault, drugs for possession for resale, among other charges.

He remains jailed on a $290, 250 bond.

Following Coker's arrest, police identified him as a suspect that had previously fired shots at the victim in late August.

Police have determined through their investigation the pair were friends at one time and had been involved in the sale and transfer of prescription drugs and narcotics in the past.
