CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. -

A Clarksville man was caught shoplifting at two area grocery stores early Tuesday morning.

According to police the first incident involving David Felts occurred around 8:15 a.m. at the Kroger's located on Madison Street.

Police said the 25-year-old took several cases of beer and meat without paying for the items.

Officers located Felts a short time later at the corner of Golf Club Lane and Crossland Avenue pushing a shopping cart filled with the stolen goods.

Felts was unable to show officers a receipt for the items, nor did he have any money or bank card in his possession to make the purchase.

Officers cited Felts with a misdemeanor before being released.

Immediately following the encounter with police, Felts went to a nearby Publix where he was seen by another police officer leaving the grocery store with food concealed under his shirt.

The officer confronted Felts and discovered he had concealed four rib eye steaks under his clothing.

When asked, he was unable to provide a proof of purchase.

Felts was taken into police custody and was booked into the Montgomery County jail for theft of property.

His bond is set at $500.

At the time of his arrest, Felts was on probation until 2017 for aggravated burglary and unlawful carrying of a deadly weapon.
