Grand Ole Opry honors Loretta Lynn on 50th anniversary

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

The Grand Ole Opry honored country legend Loretta Lynn on Tuesday night as she celebrated her 50th year as an Opry member.

Lynn initially joined the Opry on September 26, 1962. Since her induction the country sensation has received three Grammy Awards and eight Country Music Association Awards, among other achievements.

Miranda Lambert, Lee Ann Womack, Trace Adkins and the Pistol Annies, as well as Lynn's sister Crystal Gayle, participated in Tuesday night's celebration.

Lynn is known for her hit songs including "I'm a Honky Tonk Girl," "One's On The Way," and "Fist City."

The celebration began at 7 p.m.
