CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. -

To thieves, it may have been just a truck, but to a Clarksville family it was an heirloom.

The family's prized possession was stolen from their driveway around 2 a.m. Saturday morning.

Blakely Fredrick was stunned when she noticed the custom 1986 Chevrolet truck was missing from her driveway.

"I thought, where is the truck? Where did it go? I walked over to the driveway and looked around the other side of the cars to make sure I wasn't seeing things," said Fredrick.

The vehicle belonged to her boyfriend, Waylon Greenup and had been passed down from his great-grandfather who purchased the truck when it was new.

Eventually, the truck would be given to the couple's eight-year-old son Braedyn.

"My son was supposed to get it.  He showed it off to all of his friends that came over.  He would tell them it was his truck and show them what his dad had done to it," said Fredrick.

Fredrick told Nashville's News 2 Greenup had put nearly $60,000 worth of customizations into the truck.

Shattered glass was found in the driveway of the family's Edmonson Ferry Road home.

Fredrick believes thieves broke out a window, pushed the truck down the street and hot wired it to get it started.

She said a neighbor saw two people inside the vehicle, but did not call police because he thought they were teenagers taking their parent's truck for a ride.

At the time it was stolen, the truck had a red and black paint job with an orange stripe.

Fredrick said her son is upset and has been praying for the thieves to do the right thing and return the truck.

A $1,000 cash reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest.

Anyone with information should contact Clarksville-Montgomery County Crime Stoppers at 931-645-TIPS.
