Man shoves 84-year-old woman to ground, steals purse


Metro police are working to identify the man who shoved an 84-year-old woman to the ground and robbed of her purse last week.

Police said the incident involving the elderly woman occurred outside Premier Orthopedics at 394 Harding Place last Wednesday.

According to authorities, the victim and her husband, who are from Kentucky, were in the area for a scheduled medical appointment.

The victim told police she encountered the suspect at the entrance of the building around 12:20 p.m.

The pair engaged in a casual conversation before the man pushed her to the ground, taking her purse and fleeing the scene on foot.

The suspect is described as a white man in his early 30s. He is around five feet, eight inches tall and weighs around 160 pounds.

At the time of the robbery he was wearing an orange University of Tennessee cap, a black t-shirt with the words "Donate Blood" on the front and "I am Jesus" on the back and blue jeans.
