MURFREESBORO, Tenn. -

Murfreesboro police are investigating reports of an attempted abduction Sunday evening in the Blackman community.

A mother told police her son, a fifth grade student at Blackman Elementary School, was playing outside with other young children around 7 p.m. when a man exited his vehicle and started telling the children to get in.

The mother told police none of the children complied and frightened, they ran to her home, located in the 700 block of Rambush Drive off Garcia Boulevard.

The suspect, described as a white male in his 40s with a slim build and sandy blond hair, fled the area before officers arrived.

The children told police he was wearing a red hooded sweatshirt with a yellow number 9 on the front and a black fanny pack.

He was driving an older model, silver four door vehicle.

The investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information should call Murfreesboro police.
