Police arrested a man who hit a clerk across the face with a tire iron during a late night robbery Thursday night in Hermitage.
The incident occurred just before Midnight at the Phillips 66 convenience store located in the 5800 block of Old Hickory Boulevard just off Interstate 40.
According to police, the suspect, 27-year-old Vincent Carter, entered the store, pulled out a tire iron, and hit the clerk across his face and neck.
He took $600 from the register and fled the store. Upon fleeing, Carter dropped his phone during which time, a memory card was dropped.
A witness to the scene was able to obtain a vehicle tag number as he fled which led officers to his address.
Upon arriving at his residence, police found Carter wearing boxer shorts and a t-shirt.
Police asked him to go back to the scene with them, prompting him to put pants on. After searching him, police discovered "a stack of $20s in the pocket."
Upon searching his vehicle, officers also discovered a tire iron which matched the one used in the robbery.
The memory card that was dropped during the incident also contained pictures of Carter, which investigators used to positively ID him.
Carter was charged with aggravated robbery and aggravated assault and booked into the Metro jail on a $75,000 bond.
