NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

A 21-year-old man looking to purchase drugs died following a shooting behind an Antioch hotel late Thursday night.

The shooting happened just before 10:30 p.m. behind Knights Inn located in the 1100 block of Bell Road, behind Casa Fiesta Mexican Restaurant.

Police said 21-year-old Abanzer Tsegaye and a friend went to the location to allegedly purchase marijuana from the suspects.

Surveillance images show the sellers arriving in a 2006 or 2007 model dark red or maroon Nissan Altima with hubcaps intact and possibly an Illinois license plate.

According to the friend, Tsegaye handed cash to the front seat passenger, after which shots were fired from the vehicle.

Both Tsegaye and his friend ran. Tsegaye was fatally wounded by gunfire and died shortly after arriving at Southern Hills Medical Center.

The friend said he and Tsegaye were driven there by a passerby.

Police said detectives are continuing in their efforts to locate the Altima and its occupants.

The passenger is described as a tall, thin black man with a light complexion and sunken cheeks. He is balding or has very short hair.

The driver is described as a white man with long blonde hair and a mustache.

Both individuals are believed to be in their 20s.

Anyone with information on the men or the Altima in which they were riding is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 74-CRIME.
