Police arrest sex offender on run for several months

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

A registered sex offender on the run for several months is once again in police custody.

Metro police said Jerry Haney, 36, last checked in with his probation officer in February.

Haney was convicted of sexual battery in 1995 and is required to check in monthly with the state board of probation and parole and update his personal information with the state's sex offender registry.

He did neither over the last seven months.

Haney was arrested Tuesday afternoon and booked into the Metro jail.

Police said he previously violated the state's sex offender registry in April of 2008 and again in April of 2011.
