Shots fired into kids' bedroom at Hermitage apartment

Police are investigating after bullets were fired at a woman's Hermitage apartment and went through a room where her children were sleeping.

The victim told police she and a friend were inside her apartment in the 600 block of Margaret Robertson Drive when the building was hit by gunfire just before 12:30 a.m. Wednesday.

The woman explained that her two children, ages five and eight, were asleep in a back bedroom at the time of the incident.

According to a news release, the woman heard shots before one round entered her living room and another when through the back bedroom were her kids were sleeping.

No injuries were reported.

Two vehicles reportedly fled from the scene.

The vehicles are described as a large black car with large chrome rims and a light-colored, possibly silver, compact vehicle.

No further details were immediately released.

The investigation is ongoing.
