FRANKLIN, Tenn. -

Franklin police issued patronizing prostitution citations to eight men Monday following an undercover sting operation.

The operation began with an ad for an escort posted on the well-known Web site Backpage.com.

Men answered the ad throughout the day and ultimately eight of them agreed to drive to a Franklin motel off Interstate 65 to allegedly have sex.

There, they met a woman working as a confidential informant for the Franklin Police Department.

According to the arrest citations, six of the men are from Nashville.  One is from Spring Hill and one is from Pleasant View.

The oldest of the men is 66 while the youngest is age 28.

The prices they reportedly negotiated ranged from $70 to $100.

Franklin police said the operation is part of the city's dedication to quality of life issues.

In a statement, a spokesperson for the department said, "These quality of life crimes don't escape our attention, and action is periodically taken to ensure that our hotels stay a safe and desirable place for those who visit our city."

Police said two of the eight men have criminal histories in Nashville but neither had been cited for patronizing prostitution.

The men were not physically taken to jail. The men are scheduled to turn themselves in on October 4.
