CMA provides musical instruments to NY school

Posted:

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - A gift from the Country Music Association is helping elementary students make music in Bronx, N.Y.

The foundation of the Nashville-based CMA donated $20,000 through its Keep the Music Playing Program to outfit two music rooms at P.S. 103, The Hector Fontanez School, with instruments and supplies. The Education Through Music initiative is providing two credentialed teachers for the school's music instruction.

The school is new and has about 1,200 students in grades pre-kindergarten through five.

Grand Ole Opry member Dierks Bentley was at the school Thursday to perform for students and talk with fourth- and fifth-graders about the importance of music.
