Toddler dies from severe injuries after being run over by truck

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

A 21-month-old being treated for severe injuries after falling out of her father's truck died Thursday night while in the hospital, according to a news release.

Police said the truck rolled over the toddler near their home in the 1700 block of Aaronwood Drive in the Hermitage area around 6:45 p.m. on Thursday.

Police said the girl's father, Brad Henn, called 911 and was distraught after the incident.

He told police that he stopped to talk to two boys he knew from the neighborhood to offer them a ride home.

He explained that his daughter, London, recognized the boys and was excited to see them. She then somehow freed herself from the child seat and climbed into the front passenger seat.

As the children opened the door to get inside, London started to fall. Her father said he saw her falling and went to quickly grab her when he accidentally hit the gas pedal, causing the truck to move forward.

London was sent to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where she later died from her injuries.

Henn was sent to Summit Hospital to be cared for.
