Emily Crum, 21, is accused of passing illegal drugs to her premature baby.
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. -
A mother accused of passing illegal drugs to her premature baby was charged last month with aggravated child abuse.
The Rutherford County Sheriff's Office said Emily Crum's two-pound, 13-ounce baby was found to have illegal drugs in her body after she was born seven weeks prematurely in July.
The baby spent nearly a month in the neonatal unit at Middle Tennessee Medical Center and is now in foster care.
Authorities said Crum, 21, allegedly took the painkiller Percocet, smoked marijuana and smoked one to two packs of cigarettes per day while pregnant.
Marijuana was found in her body.
Crum was booked into the Rutherford County jail on a $25,000 bond.
The whereabouts of the baby's father are unknown.
