FRANKLIN, Tenn. -
Two Franklin residents immediately called police after a man attempted to break into their apartment late Sunday afternoon.
Police reported the couple was watching television in their Alara Brook apartment around 4 p.m. when they thought they heard someone trying to open a window to their home.
Upon looking outside, the pair noticed the screen to their window had been removed and saw a suspect fleeing the area.
Officers arrested the suspect, identified as 24-year-old Charles Mathis, a short time later at a nearby apartment.
Police also recovered a notebook filled with information about people's movements and times, as well as vehicle descriptions.
Mathis is charged with attempted aggravated burglary. He remains jailed on a $11,500 bond.
He is scheduled to appear in court next Thursday.
