Titans home opener to cause traffic tie-ups

Posted: Updated:

Sunday's sold-out game between the Titans and New England Patriots at LP Field will bring heavy traffic into the downtown area Sunday morning.

Stadium parking lots will open at 8 a.m. to Titans fans with parking passes. Gates to LP Field will open at 10 a.m. Kick-off is at 12 Noon.

In an effort to improve traffic flow this year, game day staff will actively check for parking passes on vehicles as they enter the stadium campus.

Vehicles without parking passes will be turned away.

Fans without parking passes can park downtown and walk to LP Field, or take advantage of InShuttle Transportation's shuttle bus service.

Fans who park north Broadway should walk across the Woodland Street Bridge, just north of LP Field. Fans who park along and south of Broadway should utilize the Shelby Street Pedestrian Bridge, located south of stadium.

Visit ParkItDowntown.com for complete downtown parking options.

Shuttle buses will leave from the state parking lot located at 4th Avenue North and Harrison Street, the state parking lot located at 10th Circle North off Charlotte Avenue beginning and Greer Stadium beginning at 10:30 a.m.

The round trip cost is $10. Visit InShuttle.com for details.

Road Closures

At 9 a.m. Sunday, Metro police will close the Woodland Street Bridge to regular traffic. Only pedestrians and shuttle buses will be allowed on the bridge after 9 a.m.

The Korean War Veterans Memorial Bridge, which connects East Nashville to Fourth Avenue North, will be open to eastbound and westbound traffic until the beginning of the fourth quarter.  However, eastbound traffic, coming across the bridge from the downtown area will not be able to turn left onto the LP Field campus after 9 a.m.

At the beginning of the fourth quarter, all lanes of the Korean War Veterans Memorial Bridge will be open to westbound traffic only.

Also, southbound traffic will not be permitted on North First Street after the game.
