Metro police detectives are investigating the discovery of a woman's body Wednesday in the Salemtown community, north of Nashville.The discovery was made shortly before 11 a.m. in an alleyway located at Fifth Avenue North and Buchanan Street off Rosa Parks Boulevard.Authorities have identified the victim as Stephanie Alexander. Police said the 39-year-old woman was homeless. Metro police spokesperson said a man mowing grass in the area at a vacant lot spotted the body and called police.There are signs of foul play. Authorities said the preliminary cause of death is believed to be blunt force trauma. Mumford added it appears the Alexander was killed elsewhere and dumped in the area overnight.A homicide investigation is underway.
