Man faces assault charge for knocking out woman's tooth

FRANKLIN, Tenn. -

Police arrested a 53-year-old man for beating a woman and knocking out her tooth over the weekend in Franklin.

Officers responded to a home on Chrisman Drive around 12:30 a.m. Sunday in regards to a domestic disturbance.

Officers found Joe Ray attempting to turn his vehicle around in the driveway.

The victim, a 46-year-old woman, was found inside. She had been beaten in the face and had a tooth knocked out during the assault.

Ray was charged with domestic assault and booked into the Williamson County jail.

A September 13 court date has been set.

Domestic violence is the leading cause of injury to women, according to statistics.
