Man dead after crashing into horse

SUMMERTOWN, Tenn. -

A Waynesboro man is dead after running into a large horse with his car early Saturday morning.

Lewis County officials told Nashville's News 2 the accident happened around 2 a.m. on Highway 20 near Summertown. They said the man hit the horse and lost control before hitting a tree head-on.

The horse's remains were found more than 100 yards away from where the accident occurred.

Officials said the man was in his 30s.

No additional information was released.
