NASHVILLE, Tenn. -
The driver of a Metro school bus carrying students from Cameron College Prep and Cameron Middle School called police Friday morning after one student allegedly assaulted another onboard the bus.
According to police, the 10-year-old victim claimed he was punched in the back and several witnesses told investigators a similar scenario.
Some witnesses added the victim may have been choked before other students were able to pull the 11-year-old suspect off of the victim.
The bus driver pulled over along Old Glenrose Avenue off Thompson Lane in south Nashville and called police.
Police took the 11-year-old boy into custody. He was charged with simple assault and transported to juvenile detention.
The victim suffered minor scratches but was not transported to a hospital.
At least 20 students, including the victim, were on the bus at the time of the incident. They continued on to the school.
The students involved in the fight attend Cameron College Prep, a spokesperson for Metro schools said.
