Gas prices continue to rise in wake of Isaac

Posted:
NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

Gas prices continue to rise since Tropical Storm Isaac hit the Gulf Coast.

Oil and gas companies are assessing damage at refineries and oil platforms along the Gulf.

Gas prices have jumped significantly nationwide just ahead of the holiday weekend.

The average price for gasoline jumped 13 cents in Nashville since the storm hit.

As of Friday morning, the Thorton's gas station off of Stewarts Ferry Pike in Donelson, often known for cheaper gas prices, a gallon of regular gas cost $3.49 a gallon.

The nearby Mapco gas station was 10 cents higher and the Nashville average was even higher at $3.67.

Analysts expected the trend to stay the same for the next few weeks as officials assess the damage caused by Isaac.
