Metro police are working to identify a suspect after a man was attacked with a beer bottle early Friday morning in downtown Nashville.
According to police, the victim got into a fight with another man around 2 a.m. at the fountain near the intersection of Fifth Avenue North and Church Street.
The victim allegedly stumbled a few blocks away where he was discovered near the Municipal Auditorium.
According to a witness, the victim said he was attacked in the head with a beer bottle before the suspect ran off.
The witness, who called police, said he appeared to be losing a lot of blood.
Initially, police said the victim did not appear to know his attacker but for whatever reason the two got into a scuffle.
Police did not immediately release the victim's name and are working on a suspect description.
The victim was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center to be treated for his injuries. He was last listed in stable condition.
The investigation is ongoing.
