Police say Cookeville teen's alleged abduction was hoax

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -

Cookeville police say an investigation has determined that a 15-year-old's alleged abduction earlier this year was a hoax.

On May 2, police issued an Amber Alert after Kirsten Alcorn was reported missing by her parents.

The minor was found early the next morning as a passing motorist observed her lying along the roadway within a mile of her home.

Police said there are no facts to back up her claims that she was abducted from her home in south Cookeville.
