Man charged with assault over leaf blower use

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - A Bartlett judge has sent a grand jury an assault case involving a leaf blower.

A barber shop employee claimed she saw 33-year-old Michael David Bridgewater Jr. operating a leaf blower and blowing debris onto her car. Kelly Carraway said when she approached Bridgewater, he walked to within three feet of her and aimed the machine's air jets toward her, blowing grass clippings and debris into her face.

The Commercial Appeal reported Carraway said she sought medical attention for respiratory problems in the next few days after the July 5 incident.

Bridgewater didn't testify at a hearing Monday in Bartlett Municipal Court, but his attorney questioned Carraway about her claim that the workman blew a half-inch of debris onto her car.
