Curtis Gordon, Jr., 47, was arrested early Tuesday morning.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. -
A violent sex offender who had slipped off the state's radar is back behind bars.
Metro police arrested 47-year-old Curtis Gordon, Jr. early Tuesday morning.
According to an affidavit, Gordon moved last October and failed to check in with the state as registered sex offenders are required to do.
Gordon is also charged with robbing a woman at A&W Taxes on Robinson Road in Old Hickory shortly before he disappeared.
According to police, Gordon approached the victim, grabbed her by the throat and stated he was robbing her.
He then bound her hands and feet with plastic zip ties and put her in a bathroom before fleeing the scene.
Surveillance video and fingerprints helped police identify Gordon as their suspect.
Gordon was convicted in the 1980s on charges of sexual assault, criminal attempt to commit rape and aggravated criminal sodomy.
He now faces two robbery counts and three counts of violating the state's sex offender registry.
He was booked into the Metro jail on a $86,000 bond.
