MURFREESBORO, Tenn. -

Alcohol is the suspected cause of a deadly accident early Sunday morning in Murfreesboro.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol responded to the single-vehicle crash on West Jefferson Pike at Mona Road near State Route 840 just before 3 a.m.

According to the accident report, Niles Pistole, 23, of Murfreesboro, was traveling westbound on West Jefferson Pike when he lost control, ran off road and struck a tree.

The impact caused the vehicle to overturn and land on its roof.

Pistole's passenger, 21-year-old Emilee Jordan, died at the scene.  The THP said she was not wearing her seatbelt.

Police said both Pistole and Jordan had been drinking prior to the crash.

Pistole faces charges of vehicular homicide and driving under the influence.
