NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

A man was shot in the back of the head and killed overnight Wednesday at a northeast Nashville bar.

It happened around 12:30 a.m. at the Hard Times Bar and Grill located in the 1800 block of Dickerson Pike off Trinity Lane and Interstate 65.

The victim has been identified as Keith Gaston, 29, of Yazoo City, Mississippi.

Detectives believe Gaston was specifically targeted by the gunman who was identified as Phillip Morton. Gaston was sitting on a stool when he was shot and died at the scene.

Morton walked out of the bar and fled the scene, police said.

Police said the 49-year-old was last known to have lived on Baptist World Center Drive.
