NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Vanderbilt football head coach James Franklin has named six more captains for the 2012 season, bringing the total to eight.
Senior quarterback Jordan Rodgers and junior defensive end Walker May were named in the spring. In a news release on Wednesday, Franklin announced the addition of senior linebacker Archibald Barnes, senior running back Zac Stacy, senior defensive end Johnell Thomas, junior safety Javon Marshall, junior offensive tackle Wesley Johnson and junior kicker Carey Spear.
Stacy, Johnson and Rodgers represent offense; Thomas, Marshall and May represent defense; and Barnes and Spear represent special teams.
Franklin said the chemistry on the team is as good as any he has been around.
The Commodores open the 2012 season on Aug. 30, when they host South Carolina.
