CommercialAppeal.com: Millington football player dies after hit at practice

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - A high school football player has died in west Tennessee after suffering an injury during practice.

The Commercial Appeal said the player was identified as Dana Payne, a 5-foot-11, 143-pound sophomore who played running back and defensive back for Millington Central High School.

Payne was pronounced dead Tuesday at Le Bonheur Children's Hospital.
