KINGSPORT, Tenn. (AP) - Hawkins County deputies have charged a man with animal cruelty, saying he used his horse to ram a police car.

Sheriff's Deputy Kenneth Ferguson said he saw three mounted men jumping in and out of traffic around 11 p.m. Friday.

They scattered when the saw the blue lights. The deputy followed a man who was later identified as 36-year-old Andrew William Ketron of Church Hill.

The Kingsport Times-News cited the deputy's affidavit, which stated Ketron ignored commands as he rode through people's yards, trying to get away. The deputy said he unhorsed Ketron and arrested him after a brief struggle.

Ketron was charged with evading arrest, public intoxication and vandalism of county property over $500. On Tuesday, he was in jail, where records did not list an attorney.
