A Nashville man pleaded guilty Tuesday morning to second degree murder for the May 2011 shooting death of a man in the J.C. Napier public housing development.

Evan Knox will serve 30 years at 100%, consecutive to his probation violation sentence.

The victim, 22-year-old Thomas Rutledge, was driving a miniature gas-powered four-wheeler through the complex when he was approached by Knox, who shot him multiple times before fleeing.

Rutledge died at the scene.

Rutledge was riding the ATV with his four-year-old stepson.  The child was not injured.

Knox was arrested about a month after the shooting in Oregon.

He was identified when he tried to check into a homeless shelter there.
