MANCHESTER, Tenn. -
A driver was killed and his passenger injured in a single-vehicle crash Tuesday afternoon on Interstate 24 in Coffee County.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol said the crash occurred in the westbound lanes of I-24 at mile marker 122 around 12:30 p.m.
According to the accident report, Wendell Reed ran off the left side of the roadway, overcorrected, came back into the roadway and crossed both lanes of traffic before striking a median.
The impact caused the vehicle to roll over several times.
Reed, 62, of Beech Grove, died on the scene.
His 57-year-old passenger was injured.
Westbound traffic on I-24 affected with the left lane blocked.
The wreck was cleared and interstate reopened just before 2 p.m.
