NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

Nashville firefighters battled heavy smoke and flames at a house in Donelson Tuesday morning.

The call went out around 10:45 a.m. at the home located in the 3100 block of Laurel Forest Drive off McCrory Creek Road between Elm Hill Pike and Stewarts Ferry Pike, just north of the Nashville airport.

Heavy smoke could be seen miles away.

Neighbor Clyde Raimey told Nashville's News 2 he was doing yard work when he heard a loud explosion.

He said it was just a matter of seconds before the home was engulfed in flames and thick smoke.

No one was injured. A dog was inside the home and rescued.

The elderly homeowner returned home shortly after the fire began.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
