MURFREESBORO, Tenn. -

Murfreesboro police arrested a man over the weekend after he was caught living in a vacant apartment he allegedly broke into a week earlier.

According to the Murfreesboro police incident, officers entered the apartment on North Spring Street early Saturday morning to find Steven Bumgardner asleep in a bedroom.

Bumgardner, 34, told police he had been staying in the apartment for about a week.

During the week, officers discovered he drank a 12-pack of beer, ate two cans of tuna and a can of fruit cocktail, the report stated.

Bumgardner was charged with trespassing, theft of services, aggravated burglary and served a warrant for a charge of DUI.

He was booked into the Rutherford County jail on a $4,250 bond.

An October 11 court date was set.
