Fire extinguisher stunt leads to Renaissance Hotel evacuation

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

A stunt with a fire extinguisher led to a major evacuation at the downtown Nashville Renaissance Hotel over the weekend.

Police arrested Joseph Steen, 27, of Ohio, after he set off the hotel's sprinkler system by spraying it with a fire extinguisher.

Guests from 90 rooms were evacuated to the street around 3 a.m. Sunday after fire alarms sounded.

Steen faces felony vandalism and disorderly conduct charges.

He was booked into the Metro jail and released on a $10,000 bond.
