Titans collecting donations for largest baby shower in Nashville

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

When the Titans kick off a new season at home on August 23, they'll be helping new families as well.

The team is accepting donations for their Annual Community Baby Shower Drive to benefit the Nurses for Newborns Foundation.

The gates at LP Field will open at 5 p.m., two hours before the game, to allow volunteers to collect baby items at drop sites around the field.

Fans are asked to bring selected baby items to help mothers in need throughout Middle Tennessee.

The most needed items include:

  • Diapers (sizes 2-5) and baby wipes
  • Baby bottles, sippy cups and formula
  • Clothing and blankets

Former Titans player Fred Miller and his wife, Kim, founded the Nurses for Newborns Foundation of Tennessee in October 2001.

The Millers gave nearly $2 million to the program, believed to be the largest gift ever given by an NFL player to a non-profit at that time.
