Metro Nashville officials work on updating laws - WKRN, Nashville News, Nashville Weather and Sports

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Officials in Metro Nashville are reviewing city codes in an effort to get rid of those that are outdated or unenforceable.
Some of the statues have been on the books since Nashville and Davidson County merged 50 years ago. Officials say ordinances that mandate pool halls be closed from midnight to 6 a.m. and that don't allow home renovations on Sundays aren't very realistic anymore.
Councilwoman Emily Evans, who is helping to spearhead the effort, told The Tennessean that officials are trying to find laws that are "anachronistic, unenforced or unenforceable." She says ordinances that might be annoying but are "fairly debated points of law" will stay on the books.
Metro Council attorney Jon Cooper says he expects the legislation to be considered in about a month.
