CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. -
Clarksville police arrested a repeat DUI offender after he struck a parked vehicle and fled the scene Friday morning.
According to police the incident involving Mark Redden occurred around 5:20 a.m. at the Shell Station located in the 3000 block of Ft. Campbell Boulevard.
Police reported, Redden struck a man's delivery truck while he was unloading merchandise before leaving the scene.
The delivery man was able to provide police with a detailed description of Redden's truck.
Redden was taken into custody a short time later after officers were alerted to the 28-year-old man chasing his neighbor with a machete in the 200 block of King Road.
During their investigation, police learned the altercation between Redden and Michael Vermeis, 39, occurred after he confronted Redden about loudly revving his engine.
The argument is said to have turned physical when Redden lunged at Vermeis.
Redden is said to have retrieved the machete from his truck after he was allegedly hit in the face.
During an interview with police, Redden admitted to approaching Vermeis with the machete.
Redden underwent sobriety tests which he performed poorly on.
He is charged with DUI and aggravated assault among other charges.
He was booked into the Montgomery County Jail on a $16,000 bond.
Redden was previously charged with DUI in May.
