NASHVILLE, Tenn. -
The driver of an SUV slammed into a row of parked cars early Friday morning in south Nashville.
The vehicle came to rest just inches from a house in the 300 bock of Peachtree Street near Nolensville Road just before 2:30 a.m.
Homeowners told Nashville's News 2 they believed the car was driving down Peachtree, crossed the center line and went directly into the parked cars.
The impact was so loud some thought it was thunder from the overnight storms.
Items in the parked cars spilled into the road. The front end of the driver's SUV was destroyed.
Area residents helped the driver of the SUV until police arrived on the scene.
Police were interviewing the driver and did not immediately release information about possible charges.
The investigation is ongoing.
