2 arrested for making, passing counterfeit money

FRANKLIN, Tenn. -

Police arrested two Franklin residents after it was discovered they were creating and using counterfeit money at least two area businesses.

Authorities reported Latoya Lane was seen using a fake bill at the Starbucks located at 418 Main Street last Monday.

The following day the 38-year-old woman passed two more counterfeit bills at a nearby Sonic.

Investigators also determined Lane's 28-year-old neighbor, Dustin Ritchie manufactured the bill.

Lane was charged with two counts of forgery. She remains jailed on a $10,000 bond.

Ritchie was charged with criminal simulation and is jailed on a $12,500 bond.

Both are scheduled to appear in court next Thursday.
