LEBANON, Tenn. -

The largest state fair in the state opens this weekend in Lebanon.

The gates of the Wilson County Fair open Friday night at 5 p.m.

This year's fair features 78 competitions, nine special events, 13 shows and 20 featured attractions in addition to the midway, with dozens of rides and food vendors.

The fair also features some races with animals that attendees may not expect.

Circle C Farms will put on pig races, as well as host an exotic petting zoo with camels, zebras and pony rides.

With reports of Swine flu at other fairs, Wilson County fair organizers are taking precautions.

"This year since we got that out break in Ohio and Indiana we aren't going to let them even touch [the pigs]," said Hale Moss, president of the Wilson Co. fair board. "They can see them when they come around the track."

The fair runs through next Saturday, August 25, at the James E. Ward Agricultural Center located at 945 East Baddour Parkway.

Gates open Monday through Friday at 5 p.m., Saturday at 10 a.m. and Sunday at Noon.

Tickets cost $7 for adults and $5 for children age six to 12.  Children under five are free.
