Preparations are underway for the 106th Annual Tennessee State Fair to take place September 7 through September 16 at the Tennessee State Fairgrounds in south Nashville.
The first Tennessee State Fair took place in 1869 and was held at the Old Fairgrounds, located at the end of the West End Avenue streetcar line.
In 1906, the fair was moved to its current location and has been held annually, except for four years during World War II.
This year's fair will feature a free concert series with acts such as the Grascals, Delicious Blues Stew, The WannaBeatles and Terri Lynn Weaver.

Fair-goers can get up to $8 in savings by purchasing $5 advanced gate admission and $20 all-you-can-ride wristbands at Kroger.
Tickets and wristbands can also be purchased online at TNStateFair.org.
