'Loser' in wrestling match stabs 'winner', police say
Jonathan Hargadine, 49, was charged with criminal attempt to commit homicide Wednesday night.
CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. -
Clarksville police arrested the loser in a wrestling match after he reportedly stabbed the winner in the chest with a large knife.
A group of friends were having dinner at Jonathan Hargadine's Pembroke Road residence Wednesday night when, according to witnesses, Hargadine, 49, and Jason Bennett, 20, engaged in a friendly wrestling match.
After the match, Hargadine, who was deemed the loser, retrieved a large Bowie knife and stabbed Bennett in the right side of his chest.
Bennett and his girlfriend drove to the nearby Kangaroo Express market from where police were called.
Officers responded to Hargadine's home and found him sleeping on a couch. He was taken into custody without incident.
Bennett was airlifted to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville where he was treated and released.
Hargadine was charged with criminal attempt to commit homicide and booked into the Montgomery County jail on a $250,000 bond.
