Driver cited for DUI after 2 trucks collide

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

The driver of a Ford pickup truck faces charges of driving under the influence after colliding with another Ford pickup truck early Thursday morning.

Police said one truck t-boned the other on Gallatin Pike at Litton Avenue around 1 a.m.

The driver of the first truck, James Wilkinson, and his passenger, were injured.

The other truck was carrying a load of recyclables, which spilled into the roadway, blocking lanes for about an hour.

Responding officers reported Wilkinson, 43, smelled of alcohol and had bloodshot eyes.

He was issued a citation for driving under the influence.  He was not arrested because he was hospitalized due to his injuries.

Metro police said Wilkinson's arrest history includes multiple counts of driving on a suspended license.

The most recent of these arrests was in October of 2003.
